On Monday 30th and Tuesday 31st, March I am going to ask World History 10 students to complete a a progress check for Quarter 4 and the AP World History students will be working on a review for Unit 1. Please read all announcements and foll all instructions carefully:

SOME ANNOUNCEMENTS:

- Your grades for 3rd Quarter are posted and the deadline for work has passed. Your 3rd Quarter grade is based on everything we did before the school dismissal. Everything we have done since the dismissal will go on 4th Quarter.

- For 4th Quarter participation will count for a huge part of your grade. If I ask for something from you, you MUST turn it in by the due date to get full credit. I can not grade you on work that is not submitted!

- Lastly, please remember, if you have ANY concerns/questions/issues, to email me at troy.ball@jordandistrict.org I am available through email Mon-Fri 7a-3p. It may take me a couple of hours to respond, but I will respond same day to any and all emails received by 3p. Thank you.

WH10 Classes ONLY! (5th, 6th, 7th, & 8th periods) Please do the following to complete class for Tuesday 31st, March:

- Please keep your portfolio checklist safe as we will continue to use that portfolio for this unit. You will NOT be adding any updates to the portfolio checklist today.

- Today we are going to do a progress check. You will be turning in this progress check to me either by sharing a Google Doc or by sending a picture to me through email. You have two options to do that. When you click the link for the Progress Check #1 and it opens, in the upper left hand there is a menu to either print or make a copy:
1) If you wish to have a physical copy, please print the document, fill it in and then send me a picture when completed.
2) If you prefer doing it electronically, click FILE in the menu bar and then click MAKE A COPY and that will make a copy in your Google Drive. Then you can use it, edit it, and fill it in. When completed you will share it with me at troy.ball@jordandistrict.org

- Download a copy of the Progress Check and follow the instructions carefully. This Progress Check in due by Thursday 2nd, April: IMPORTANT: You are ONLY turning in the Progress Check #1. You do NOT need to turn in or share the other work with me.
Quarter 4 Progress Check #1

- Thank you. The rest of this post is for AP.

AP Classes ONLY! (3rd & 4th) Please do the following to complete class for Monday 30th, March:

- If you have not already sent me verification for the portfolio work you have done since the school dismissal, you need to do that ASAP! Please check previous post for further information.

- We will begin our formal review today with Unit 1 and we will be spending two class periods per unit to review. The first part will entail reviewing the material by taking notes, watching videos, and going through your previous work. The second part will include answering questions and doing some practice free-response questions. At this point most review work will be based on participation and you will need to verify that you are doing so. Don't worry about how right now, just do the work and I will let you know when you need to do something.

- For the first part of our Unit 1 Review, please do the following:
1) Download the following notes and use the presentation to fill them in. The process of writing notes WILL help you remember. As always, you do NOT need to write everything, but enough to remember the main points.
Notes: AP Review - Unit 1
Presentation: AP Review - Unit 1
2) Pay careful attention to the vocabulary (bolded terms) in the review. They are not the only ones, of course, but they cover major ideas and concepts. Develop a way to go through them and make sure you KNOW them and can explain them in detail.
3) Here are several videos that you can also use. You do not have to watch every single second and it is not necessary to take detailed notes on each one. However, they are an excellent source to recap main ideas from the unit. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND that you take time to go through them.
Video: Overall General Review for Unit 1
Videos: Detailed Review For Unit 1 Topics  (Notice that on the right hand side of the screen, once you open this video, there is a playlist of several videos associated with Unit 1. Please take the time to check them all out.)

- If you have questions/concerns/issues, please email me and I will help you!

Thank you.

Wednesday 25th & Thursday 26th, March: (WH10) Life in the Cold War & (AP) Review Introduction

On Wednesday 25th and Thursday 26th, March I am going to ask you to please carefully read all announcements. WH10 students will continue their look at the Cold War. AP students will begin reviewing for their final exam.

 SOME ANNOUNCEMENTS:

First, at this point most announcements are repeats. If you have not been doing so, you need to read the announcements at the beginning of EACH post. Everything is there and it is simple to follow. If you have concerns/questions, do not wait, email me and I will help you.

Second, all late / makeup work and test corrections for 3rd QUARTER are due tomorrow  Thursday 26th, March at 3pm! The work for 3rd QUARTER was everything up to and including the Unit 6 Test. Nothing we have done since the school dismissal will affect your 3rd Quarter grade.

Third, everything you have worked on since the school closure will go on 4th QUARTER's grade. That will include everything on the portfolio checklist (listed below).  You will not turn in anything from that portfolio until I ask for it; however, you should be keeping it together either physically or electronically.

WH10 Classes ONLY! (5th, 6th, 7th, & 8th periods) Please do the following to complete class for Thursday 26th, March:

- Update your portfolio checklist as follows (If you need items #1-7, please check the previous posts):
8) Mar 26     Reading Guide 33.1 - Life During the Cold War

- Remember, you are NOT turning anything in yet. You are keeping it in a portfolio. You have two options and may do whichever one is easiest for you. You can copy the files I provide links for into your Google Drive and keep everything electronically OR you can print it out and have physical copies of the work. Whichever way you choose, you will have to prove that you have been doing the work and will turn these things in at a later date. Be diligent!

- Download the following book work and complete it for Wednesday 25th, March.
World History 10: Reading Guide 33.1 - Life During the Cold War: Europe and N. America

- This coming Monday 30th, March we will be doing our first check/quiz on the work you have done since the closure. Please make sure all items, (including what you got today) are completed in your portfolio. This is just a check and you will be able to use the work to complete it.

The rest of this post is for AP only. Thank you!

AP Classes ONLY! (3rd & 4th) Please make note of the following updates:

Important: Information may change. Instead of making multiple posts each day, I will simply edit/update this post as needed. Please check these posts for edits a couple times a day (morning & evening) to make sure you are getting what you need.

- First, what a time to take AP! Let your stress go and do NOT cancel your tests. Think about it, a 3 1/2 hour test reduced to 45 minutes. Wow!! What an opportunity. You are going to pass this test, if you do what I ask you to.

- Second, thank you for your responses. However, I did not hear from everyone, if you have not sent me an email from your preferred email do that NOW!!

- Third, based on you responses we will do the following:
1) Begin reviewing for the AP exam.
2) Either by taking pictures of your work and sending them to me OR by sharing your Google Docs of the work, you need to send me verification of completion for the following five items:
Mar13/16    Notes 7.2 - From WWI to WWII
Mar13/16    HW: Reading Guides 20.2 and 20.3
Mar 17/18   Notes 7.3 - Origins and Course of WWII
Mar 17/18   HW: Reading Guide 21.1

- Fourth, please complete the following introductory review by filling in notes using the following presentation. You are free to review in the way that seems best for you and your style; however, research shows that writing stuff down improves memory.
Notes: AP Review Introduction
Presentation: AP Review Introduction

- Fifth, the previous review is an introduction, but still important so do it!. Starting Monday 30th, March we will begin formal intensive reviews for each unit complete with vocabulary, videos, former presentations, practice writings, and review notes.

(For those interested: There will be live lectures for the information in Unit 8, that can be found at https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLoGgviqq4845dmFXqxdQ3LBR2fxLgv0GM
Remember, you will not be tested on Unit 8 information. These are just for those who wish to learn more.)

Thank you!
