On Tuesday 14th and Wednesday 15th, April I am going to ask World History 10 students to look at nationalism and developments in Africa up to the 1990s and the AP World History students will start working on DBQs. Please read all announcements and follow all instructions carefully:

SOME ANNOUNCEMENTS:

- At this point there are no real announcements, except please follow instructions carefully and check your grades! If you have concerns or questions please email me and I will help you.

- We should be settling into a routine and, although it may not be the most exciting doing all of this online, it should be fairly simple to follow along and complete. I intend on using the established routines to finish out the school year. Again if you have concerns, issues, or questions, email me as soon as you can. Do NOT wait until the last minute to ask for help or express yourself! I expect you to do these things and YES they will affect your grade.

AP Classes ONLY! (3rd & 4th) Please do the following to complete class for Tuesday 14th, April:

- IMPORTANT:
Please complete the Unit 1 Review Check from last post and share it with me in Google Docs or print it and share it with me as a picture. The first option is by far the easiest. This is due TODAY! I will be going through these, answering questions, and grading them tomorrow. Here is the link again: Unit 1 Review Check

- Please make a note of our review schedule for the rest of the year with the link below:
Review Schedule for 2020

- Today I am going to introduce the DBQ (Document Based Question) and we will discuss how to prepare and analyze the documents so we can write an excellent DBQ. The test this year is just one DBQ and you will have 45 mins to write it. I don't want to infer that it will be easy and that we don't need to study hard, but this opportunity is amazing! Think about it, can you write an essay in 45 minutes that demonstrates a year's worth of learning? ABSOLUTELY YOU CAN! I again reaffirm my absolute confidence that if you do what I am asking you will pass this test.

- Here is a brief rubric for the DBQ and I will be providing a more detailed one for next class. If you prefer the official document, there is a link for the official rubric as well:

College Board Issued Rubric

- Finally, we come to today's assignment. I do NOT want you to write your essay yet. Today I ONLY want you to analyze the documents we will be using to write the DBQ next time. Please follow the instructions carefully:

1. Familiarize yourself with the prompt and the documents by reading through them. Remember, you are NOT writing the essay today:
Unit 2 DBQ - Prompt and Documents
2. Using the following guide, choose at least 5 of the 7 documents to analyze using the SOAPS method. Choose documents that represent the Muslim and Christian view. You should actually write things down, you can use a physical piece of paper or make a Google Doc.

3. If you get stuck, have questions, or do not understand something research it or email me. I will help you!
4. Have your analysis ready for next time so we can write the essay. Do NOT write it until I say.

Thank you.
