On Wednesday 22nd and Thursday 23rd, April I am going to ask World History 10 students to complete Progress Check #2 and the AP World History students will start analyzing the documents we will be using for Unit 3. Please read all announcements and follow all instructions carefully:
AN ANNOUNCEMENT:
- When I ask for Progress Checks (WH10) or Review Checks (AP) I only want you to send me the check, do not send me your work, assignments, notes, etc. AP students will attach their essays to the check, but otherwise I only want the checks. See below!
- Remember, please follow instructions carefully and check your grades. If you have concerns or questions please email me and I will help you. Please don't wait if there is an issue; let me know ASAP!
WH10 Classes ONLY! (5th, 6th, 7th, & 8th periods) Please do the following to complete class for Thursday 23rd, April:
- Please keep your portfolio checklist safe as we will continue to use that portfolio for this unit. You will NOT be adding any updates to the portfolio checklist today.
- Today we are going to do a progress check. You will be turning in this progress check to me either by sharing a Google Doc or by sending a picture to me through email. You have two options to do that. When you click the link for the Progress Check #2 and it opens, in the upper left hand there is a menu to either print or make a copy:
1) If you wish to have a physical copy, please print the document, fill it in and then send me a picture when completed.
2) If you prefer doing it electronically, click FILE in the menu bar and then click MAKE A COPY and that will allow you to make a copy in your Google Drive. Once you make your copy, you can edit it and fill it in. When completed, share it with me at troy.ball@jordandistrict.org
- Download a copy of the Progress Check and follow the instructions carefully. This Progress Check in due by Monday 27th, April: IMPORTANT: You are ONLY turning in Progress Check #2. You do NOT need to turn in or share the other work with me.
Quarter 4 Progress Check #2
- Thank you. The rest of this post is for AP.
AP Classes ONLY! (3rd & 4th) Please do the following to complete class for Wednesday 22nd, April:
- Please complete the Unit 2 Review Check from last post and share it with me in Google Docs or print it and share it with me as a picture. The first option is by far the easiest. This is due TODAY! I will be going through these, answering questions, and grading them tomorrow. Here is the link again: Unit 2 Review Check
IMPORTANT: If you are having issues with your partner, let me know so I can help solve your concerns. You will not be docked for something your partner should have done.
- Again, here is the rubric for the DBQs. If you prefer the official document, there is a link for the official rubric as well. Commit these requirements to memory:
Detailed DBQ Rubric (Written in my words)
College Board Issued Rubric
IMPORTANT: Although the actual test will have only 5 documents to analyze we will be analyzing 7 documents as we would for a normal DBQ. This will give us more practice and that way the actual test is easier.
- Today we will prepare and analyze documents for Unit 3 so we can write another practice DBQ. I do NOT want you to write your essay yet. Today I ONLY want you to analyze the documents we will be using to write the DBQ next time. Please follow the instructions carefully:
1. Familiarize yourself with the prompt and the documents by reading through them. Remember, you are NOT writing the essay today:
Unit 3 DBQ - Prompt and Documents
2. Using the following guide, analyze all 7 of the documents using the SOAPS method. It is not necessary or even possible to get answers on every part of the SOAPS, but you should do as much as you can. You should actually write things down, you can use a physical piece of paper or make a Google Doc.

3. If you get stuck, have questions, or do not understand something research it or email me. I will help you!
4. Have your analysis ready for next time so we can write the essay. Do NOT write it until I say.
Thank you.
